మహాభారతమును ఐదవ వేదమనిరి. జ్ఞానవిజ్ఞాన సర్వస్వమంతయు వేదమునందున్నటులే మహాభారతమునందుకూడ నిక్షిప్తమై యున్నది. మహాభారతకథ యనగా కేవల కౌరవపాండవుల చరిత్రయని అభిప్రాయపడుట సహజము. కాని ఆ కథాభాగములోనే అనేకానేక ఉపాఖ్యానములున్నవి. ఉపాఖ్యానమనగా ప్రథానకథలో చెప్పబడిన చిన్న కథలు. కథలద్వారా ఒక నీతిని, ధర్మమును, తత్వమును సులభముగా చెప్పవచ్చును. ఒక పర్వతమునెక్కుటకు చేతికర్ర నుపయోగించు రీతిని గంభీరతత్వము నెరుగుటకు ఉపాఖ్యానములు అత్యావశ్యాకమై యుండును. మహాభారతమొక ధర్మశాస్త్రము. ధర్మ మనగా ధరించబడునది. ధర్మాధర్మములు రెండింటిని మహాభారతము అనేక ఉపాఖ్యానముల ద్వారా వెల్లడించినది.

ఉపనిషత్ జ్ఞానముచే అధ్యాత్మిక ప్రగతి సాధించవచ్చును. కాని లోకములో వ్యవహరించు జ్ఞానము తెలియకపోవచ్చును. ఆరెండింటిని సంపూర్ణమొనర్చి వేదశాస్త్రార్థములను అల్పబుద్ధులకు సైతము అవగతమగునటుల మహాభారత ఉపాఖ్యానములు రచించబడినవి. కావున మహాభారతము సాంసారిక శాస్త్రమనియు, మోక్షశాస్త్రమనియు పిలువబడినది. మహాభారతమునందు అపూర్వార్థము గలవియు, పుణ్యదాయకమైనవియు, అనేక గ్రంధముల సారమును దెలుపునవియు, ఉత్తమ సంస్కారము బోధించునవియు పెక్కు ఉపాఖ్యానములున్నవి. ధర్మము నుపదేశించి మానవులను సన్మార్గవర్తనులను చేయుటయే ఉపాఖ్యానముల ఉద్దేశ్యమని వేదవ్యాసమహర్షి స్వయముగా పలికెను. ఉపాఖ్యాన పఠనముచే కాయిక, వాచక, మానసిక పాపములు నశించును. మహాభారత కథకు ఆయువుపట్టు ఉపాఖ్యానములే.  ఉపాఖ్యానములనెడి పునాదిపై కౌరవపాండవగాధ యనెడి భవంతి నిర్మించబడినది.

మహాభారతముయొక్క పదునెనిమిది పర్వములలో అచటచట ఈ ఉపాఖ్యానములను సందర్భానుసారము వ్యాసమహర్షి రచించెను. ఈ ధర్మతత్త్వోపాఖ్యానములు రెండువందలకు పైచిలుకు మనోహరముగ నున్నవి. వానినన్నిటిని ఏర్చికూర్చి ఈ గ్రంధమును సుమారు 850 పేజీలు క్రౌను సైజులో ముద్రించి కాలికో బైండుతో పాఠకులకు అందించబడుచున్నది. ఈ ధర్మతత్త్వోపాఖ్యానములలో మంకిగీత, బోధ్యగీత, భృగుగీత, మనుగీత, అనుస్మృతి, మోక్షయోగము, పంచశిఖఈత, వ్యాసగీత, కపిలగీత, పరాశరగీత, హంసగీత, వశిష్ఠగీత, యాజ్ఞవల్క్యగీత, కామగీత, అనుగీత కూడా సరళవ్యాఖ్యతో చేర్చబడినవి. అటులనే కురుక్షేత్రమహిమ, ధర్మాధర్మములు, యక్షప్రశ్నలు, విదురనీతి, ధర్మనిర్ణయము, షడ్జగీత, మోక్షోపాయములు, ఆర్షసనాతన ధర్మము, యజ్ఞతుల్య ఉపవాసవ్రతములు, మానస పార్థివ తీర్థములు, స్వధర్మపాలన, సామదానోపాయములు, ధర్మ రహస్యములు, పుణ్యక్షేత్రములు, సర్వదా జపయోగ్య మంత్రస్తుతి మున్నగు తత్త్వవిషయము లెన్నియో చేర్చబడినవి. ఇవిగాక అనేకానేక ధర్మతత్త్వోపాఖ్యానములు పుష్కలముగా విశదమొనర్చబడినవి.

ఇహపరలోక సాధనకు ధర్మమే శ్రేయస్కరము. ఈసత్యమును ఆవిష్కరింప జేయుటకై వేదవ్యాసమహర్షి మహాభారతము నందనేక ఉపాఖ్యానములను చెప్పి యిటుల ఘోషించెను.

Why read Puranas? పురాణాలు ఎందుకు చదవాలి?

సమస్యలను దూరంచేసుకోవటనికి పురాణాలు చదవాలి. భగవంతుడిని కీర్తించే సినిమాలు లేదా టెలివిజన్ షోలు సమయాభావంవల్ల గాని లేక జనరంజకంగా వుండేందుకోసంగాని కుదించి ఇవ్వటం జరుగుతుంది. ఇటువంటివాటి ద్వారా పురాణాలలో వుండే పూర్తి  జ్ఞానాన్ని పొందటం సాధ్యం కాదు. జ్ఞానం విస్తరించుకోవటమే ఏసమస్యలకైనా శాశ్వత పరిష్కారమార్గం.

పురాణాలు అంటే ఏమిటి?

వేదం అంటే విజ్ఞానమే. విజ్ఞానం అంటే ఇప్పటివరకు ప్రపంచంలో వున్న శాస్త్రాలన్నీనూ, అలాగే ఇకపై రాబోయే శాస్త్రాలు కూడా. మరి అటువంటి (భూత, వర్తమాన,భవిష్యత్ శాస్త్రసంపద ఐన) వేదాన్ని అర్థం చేసుకోవటానికి లేదా అర్థమైనదాన్ని విశదీకరించటానికి పూర్వకాలం నుంచి ఎందరో ఋషులు ఎంతో శ్రమచేసినా తగిన పద్ధతి కనిపెట్టలేకపోతే విష్ణుమూర్తే స్వయంగా వ్యాసునిగా అవతరించి వేదాన్ని విభజించి ఆయావిభాగాలను అర్థం చేసుకోవటనికి వేదాంగాలను రచించెను. అయితే అదికూడా ఋషులకు మాత్రమే అర్థమైయే విధంగా వుందని తలచి ఆయన సామాన్యులకు కూడా ధర్మం, విజ్ఞానం అందించేందుకుగాను పురాణాలు రచించెను. పురాణాలు సత్యమే ఆధారంగా కలవిగాని కట్టుకథలు కావు. ఇవి మనోవికాసానికే కాని మనోల్లాసానికి కాదు.

(వేద) విజ్ఞానవంతుడికీ, విజ్ఞానం లేనివాడికీ తేడా ఏమిటి?

జీవితం ప్రయాణం వంటిది. జ్ఞానం వున్నవాడి జీవితం ...చేతిలో దీపం వున్నపుడు ప్రయాణంలా చీకటిలో అయినా దారిలో మలుపులు వున్నాఅడ్డంకులు వున్నా అన్నీ స్పష్టంగా కనిపించి వాటిని దాటుకుంటూ వెళ్ళటానికి అవకాశం వుంటుంది. అదే దీపంవెలుగు లేకుండా ప్రయాణించే వాడు సూర్యుడున్నంతసేపు మాత్రమే ప్రయాణం చక్కగా చేయగలడు. చీకటిపడగానే దారి తెలియకనో లేక దారిలోవున్న రాళ్ళూ ముళ్ళూ గుచ్చుకునో దుఃఖాన్ని అనుభవిస్తూ ప్రయాణం సాగిస్తాడు.

పురాణాలు చదివితే ప్రయోజనం ఏమిటి?

పురాణాలు చదివినా లేక విన్నా జీవితంలో ఎదురయ్యే ఎన్నో సమస్యల నుంచి బయటపడవచ్చు. పురాణాలలో లా (న్యాయశాస్త్రము), స్ట్రాటజీ (నీతిశాస్త్రము), సైన్సు (ధర్మ, ఖగోళ, జీవ,...శాస్త్రములు), సైకాలజీ , ఫిలాసఫీ (తత్త్వశాస్త్రము), సొసైటీకి సంబంధించిన కూలంకషమైన చర్చలు వున్నాయి. ఏదైనా పురాణ పుస్తకము చదివితే జ్ఞానము విస్తరించి ఆ పాఠకుడి ధర్మ-అధర్మ విశ్లేషణా శక్తి,  నిర్ణయ శక్తి ఎన్నో ఎన్నో రెట్లు పెరుగుతుంది. ఇది పదే పదే కేవలం ఎదైనా ఒక గ్రంధాన్ని మాత్రమే చదివిన పాఠకులకు అనుభవం. ఇక అనేక పురాణాలు పలుమారులు చదివిన వారు సమస్యలని వారి విశ్లేషణ-నిర్ణయ శక్తి సహాయంతో దాటి ఉన్నత ఆశయాలను లక్ష్యాలను సాధిస్తారనటం లో ఏమాత్రం సందేహపడనవసరం లేదు.

This book is one of the expected 5 volumes of Adhyatma Geetas by different Rishis. Geeta 'is a Question and Answer type scientific discussion' that starts with one Rishi asking questions/ clarifications while the other Rishi teaches.  The central subject of the discussion varied from Geeta to Geeta. The Geetas in this book series are mainly about Adhyatma tatva (God of all sciences) theories presented by Rishis. Some other subjects that come along, to mention here for example, are Philosophy, Botony-life science, Astronomy, Formation of Universe, Law, Formation of human body right from conception and Theory of evolution. Geetas would also serve as dictionary for scientific terms in Hindu philosophy. Situations where Teacher rectifies student's misinterpretation of a word and comprehends the needed philosophy, help the readers understand right meaning and become adept with the subject matter. Interesting part of reading different Geetas is that one can step into the shoes of a Teacher or a Student. When felt as a Teacher, different ways the Rishis followed to present their theories (propose, support, affirm, elaborate, simplify, or contradict a theory) to the varied audience is interesting and is very useful for the researchers. శ్రీవేదవ్యాస మహర్షి రచించిన అష్టాదశ పురాణములలో శ్రీమద్దేవీభాగవతము గొప్ప ప్రాశస్త్యము సంతరించుకొన్నది. సచ్చిదానంద స్వరూపమగు పరమాత్మను స్త్రీరూపముగ, పురుషరూపముగ, కేవల నిరాకారరూపముగ ధ్యానించవచ్చును. పరబ్రహ్మము శక్తియే బ్రహ్మాండములను నిర్మించి- పోషించి- తన ఇచ్ఛామాత్రముచే చరాచరజగత్తునూ లయింపజేయుచున్నదని దేవీభాగవతము ప్రతిపాదించినది. దేవీస్వరూపము సచ్చిదానంద స్వరూపమగు పరబ్రహ్మతత్త్వమే.  తత్త్వసాధకులను ప్రకృతిశక్తి నుండి మహాపురుష ఆరాధనకు ప్రేరేపించిటయే దేవీభాగవత ముఖ్యోద్దేశము. గాయత్రీమంత్రార్థమునే అనేక కథలద్వారా దేవీభాగవతము చెప్పినది. అందుచేతనే "సచ్చిదానంద రూపాం తాం గాయత్రీ ప్రతిపాదితాం, నమామి హ్రీం మయీం దేవీం ధియోయోనః ప్రచోదయాత్" యను శ్లోకముతో పురాణ సమాప్తి గావించబడినది.

"సర్వం ఖల్విదమేవాహం నాన్యదస్తి సనాతనం" యను అర్థ శ్లోకమే "అహం బ్రహ్మాస్మి" యను మహావాక్యము. వేదసారమైన ఈ మహావాక్యమునే వ్యాసమహర్షి దేవీభాగవతరూపముగ వ్యాఖ్యానించెను. భగవదుపాసన రెండు విధములుగా నున్నది. సగుణోపాసన అనగా దేవతా స్వరూపములను, వారి లీలలను, గుణగణములను, ఆయా దేవతామంత్రములను, స్తోత్రములను, పూజించి, జపించి, స్తుతించి ఆరాధించుట. నిర్గుణోపాసన అనగా నిరాకార నిర్వికార భగవద్ధ్యానము. సగుణోపాసన సంసారులకు, నిర్గుణోపాసన సంన్యాసులకు నిర్ణయించబడినది. దేవీభాగవతము మిక్కుటముగా సగుణోపాసన ద్వారా భగవత్తత్వమును ప్రతిపాదించినది.

శ్రీదేవీభాగవతము పదునెనిమిదివేల శ్లోకములతో పండ్రెండు స్కంధములుగా విభజించబడినది. ఈ భాగవతము నంతటినీ యథాతథము తెనుగువచనము చేయబడినదె  ఈ  గ్రంధము. ఇందులో ఎన్నియో ఉపాఖ్యానములున్నవి. ఇవియన్నియు తత్త్వవిమర్శను, తత్త్వబోధను, సంక్షిప్తముగా సంగ్రహించి చెప్పినవి. నీతిని-ధర్మమును బోధించినవి. సదాచారమును-సత్కర్మలను వివరించినవి. దుష్కర్మలను-దురితములను విశదీకరించి ఖండించినవి. కర్మయోగ-జ్ఞానయోగ-భక్తియోగములను విపులీకరించినవి. పురాణములను పూర్వచరిత్రలుగా స్మరించునపుడు వానిలోని నిగూఢ తత్త్వమును గ్రహించి బ్రహ్మజ్ఞాన సముపార్జనకు ప్రయత్నించవలెను. మహాత్ముల చరిత్రలలోని సందేశములకే ప్రాముఖ్యతనీయవలెను. సంభవాసంభవముల గురించి తర్కించుట శుష్కప్రయోజనమే అగును. ధర్మసూక్ష్మమునెరిగి ధర్మాచరణమునందు అనురక్తులు గావలయును.

It was first written in Telugu by Sri Nachana Soma in poetic (Padyam) style. The book by Sri Saripalle Somayaji is the first complete Telugu work in Gadya rachanas. It is in Sarala Grandhika style. The rachana saili in this book is like the river Ganga in Haridwar:- Once the book is opened to read, one can not stop until finishing few chapters in row. The book is worth keeping in home library and good as a gift too.

Parva3: Ultimate knowledge (Atma tatva) of knowing the Supreme God Hari (synonimously- World/ SupremeSelf)

The Krishnaavatara varnana is different in Harivamsam compared to Bahaagavatam. In Harivamsam, Lord Krishna is shown as a human and his (ideal) way of leading a fruitful human life with the practice of Human Dharma. Whereas in Bhagavatam, Lord Sri Krishna is depicted as Bhagawan and several different ways (follwed by Raakshasas like Kamsa and Bhaktas like Akrura...) of reaching him, called Upasanas, were described.
