AGNI GEETA FROM ADHYATMA GEETA SREE LAHARI

 అగ్నిగీత (from Adhyatma Geeta Srilahari)

The goal of Arsha Vangmaya is to teach the path of virtue (Dharma) to human beings. Dharma is instrumental for the progress of human beings in acquiring happiness in hither and far worlds. Dharma derives from the word "Dhara", giving rise to the definition that Dharma is the one that holds. There are two types of Dharma. One is that of the people occupied in worldly activities and the other is of those who renounced them. Nivrutti Dharma is that of the people who abstained from worldly pleasures or duties. Pravrutti Dharma involves doing good deeds and following the duties of four Ashramas in their order of sequence. Pravrutti Dharma talks about doing wise actions and alerts about restricted actions. Those focusing on Pravrutti Dharma perform their actions along these lines for many years to get Chitta shuddhi. With purified Chitta, the performer's actions get completely aligned with his/her thoughts. As a result, clear perspective of life gets developed. Then, gradually, one renounces doing all those karmas and strives for earning Atma jnana. Such enlightenment leads to the quest for the knowledge of self-discovery called Brahmavidya. Brahmavidya has to be obtained from a learned Guru's face to face instruction. Once acquired the knowledge of Shastras one turns interested into the Brahmavidya. While Upanishads and Puranas discussed various ways for accomplishing the necessary skills for understanding Brahmavidya, the undrlying principles were discussed in the Adhyatma Geetas.

Brahmavidya, explained by Agni Deva, in Agni Purana from Chapter 372 to Chapter 380 is known as Agni Geeta. In this Geeta, Ashtanga Yoga - Brahmajnana - Advaita Brahmajnana were discussed.
